Je ne comprends pas

Je suis désolé, Je ne comprends pas.

I've decided that this is the only phrase worth learning in French.  "I'm sorry, I don't understand."

I did find a useful document this past week, courtesy of the Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles in an attempt to appear welcoming to immigrants. Some of the information in here is actually pretty helpful...such as Learning about government programs and services, the difference between religious marriages and civil unions (no matter who's marrying or unioning who), and details on car and driver registration, etc....


However, the Gouvernement du Québec could have saved many tax dollars by leaving out a few sections. Some of the employment information was useful. However, suggestions such as, "Be on time and stick to your work schedule" and "show initiative" suggest that Quebecers are the only ones doing this.


So, here we are in our third month of anticipating our relocation "by the end of the year", and are starting to wonder which year they meant. Today is October 22.  As of today, we have 10 weeks (70 days) until the end of 2010. We don't have significantly more information than we had two months ago regarding the impending upheaval of our lives.
