Clueless au Canada

This is a place for me to post questions and share bon, mauvais et laid (good, bad, and ugly) of moving from Wisconsin to Florida via Quebec.

Why are we moving to Canada?

As most of you know, our moving date is set. As I sit and compose this post, I should be setting aside things I can't live without for a few weeks. I do have a small pile set aside in each room, but it still doesn't seem to be enough. The movers will be here at 8 tomorrow morning. Yes, this is a full service move...it's the only way to do it. This is the fourth time that a moving company has packed up all of our stuff, loaded it on a truck, and hauled it to our next destination. It usually takes 1 day to pack up almost everything we own. However, you have to be very clear about what should not be packed. It goes so quickly because they don't really care what it is they're wrapping and putting into a box, waiting to be discovered several hundred miles away.

I've decided that everyone should at least pretend to move every 5 years or so. We've unloaded so much crap that we've accumulated over the last 5 years, and beyond. I actually found a receipt from the couch Nick bought when he was a student at MSU (1994?).
One of the reading teachers at Leif's school told me that he's been trying to write about moving to Canada, and even tried to write a little bit in french. He's such an easy-going kid, I had assumed that he was ok with this move since he didn't seem too concerned. I'm pretty sure what's about to happen is beyond comprehension at his age. Last night I asked if he had any questions about moving, or if he was worried about moving. "Nope."As he was putting on his pajamas he said, "I have a question. Why are we moving to Canada?"

Nick was browsing our new neighborhood's website, and oddly enough, it looks like we're not really moving that far away...Maybe we're living in Mr. Rodgers' Neighborhood again?
