The Bike Path

Ok, so we had some nice bike trails in Green Bay... 5 (that I know of). A big frustration for us was that they never really went anywhere useful. We lived out of town a bit, so walking or riding a bike anywhere (besides recreational) was difficult. To get to any of the trails, we had to first put our bikes on the car and drive them to the trail. We managed to ride bikes to L's school, and I did ride to work a couple of times...and Nick towed L in the bike trailer all the way to the GB Farmer's Market ONCE (he swore he'd never do that again).
Now that the weather is finally warming, we have been able to explore the bike paths that we were assured existed under metres of snow. If you look closely enough at the bike trail map, you'll even see a few bridges (one just for pikes/peds) over the Seaway. The trail giving us access to these bridges opened April 15. The weather was chilly, and rain threatened, but did that stop us? If it were up to me it would have :)The bike paths here work themselves into a network, and you can get anywhere! I'm not trying to make my Wisconsin cycling friends jealous or anything, but this is pretty sweet.
On our chilly "ride just because we can" ride last Friday, we also discovered that the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, a Formula 1 race track on one of the islands, is open for cycling (when we don't have to compete with the cars). Super sweet.Good thing I don't have a job...I'll be too busy exploring a velo.
