We have scheduled the movers for the last week of May (that's Memorial Day week to our US friends). That's a tad over 5 weeks from now. Am I stressing and boxing? Not yet. Well, maybe sometimes I let myself stress a little, but luckily we have "people" to do the dirty work. If you followed us through the last move, you know that people come in and pack up our stuff and then put it on a truck-and it magically appears at an agreed upon date at the address we give them. So, more for my benefit than anybody reading this, I'm making a list of the things I need to get started on now....
1. Remove Moving stickers
Ok, so each time we move, the movers label everything with a numbered sticker for inventory purposes. I recently found these three stickers on some of our furniture. Did I mention that they've used a different color for each of our most recent moves? It really confuses the hell out of them when there's too many stickers from too many moves. Apparently the 10 cent bounty I have put on these stickers is not enough motivation...Guess I'll have to kick off a sticker scavenger hunt.
2. Stop going to Costco
Even our family of fiber-loving vegetarians cannot go through a 40-pack of toilet paper in 5 weeks.
3. EAT
While the dry goods will survive the trip, frozen raviolis and mangoes don't travel well. So after completing #2, we need to finish what's left in the freezer. We're gonna have some very interesting meals around here in the next few weeks. How 'bout walnut waffle raviolinis with a frozen orange/mango juice sauce?
4. Mark stuff that the mover's shouldn't touch
They'll pack up the garbage if you let them.
That's enough for now. I'm exhausted.
On another note, we have new neighbors. This wasn't of much interest to us until we saw the little boy running around outside with his teenage sister. L stopped in to say hi as he was running home from another neighbor's house. He's like the Mayor or something. So it turns out that the two kids are 6 and 15 and bilingual. So great to have friends for our kids right across the street...for. a. month.
D'oh.
