l'araignée

Yes, two posts in the same day. I have a funny story to share, and it didn't fit in the last topic.

Last night, about a half hour after tucking my little boy into bed, I heard this: "DADDY, we have a PROBLEM in here!"  Since Nick was upstairs already (and I was watching Modern Family), I let him handle the 'problem'.  A short time later, Nick came down with a smirk on his face and informed me that our son was going to sleep in our bed.

In our son's room is the  hatch to the attic. Both Nick and I have mentioned to each other that based on the age and condition of the house, we don't even want to know what's up there. We haven't mentioned this to our son, even when he decided to put his bed (and his pillow) directly below the hatch. He has a great imagination, but he didn't seem to focus it on what may be waiting to pop out of the hatch in the middle of any given night. Apparently last night a huge spider decided to descend into L's room.

Spider Portal with duct tape

When it was time for us to go reclaim our bed, Nick carried Mr. Lanky back to his own bed, arms and legs sticking out everywhere. Upon landing on his pillow, he woke up and immediately looked up to check for the spider. We convinced him that the spider was gone and got him to settle into his bed. He managed to stay still for approximately 30 seconds before bolting out of bed swatting at something. "Oh, it was just Shiloh's (his favorite tutu) nose."

Nick decided to seal the spider portal with duct tape.
L: "But what if the spiders have a fork?"
N: "Then you start running"

He did ask me to inspect his father's taping job to make sure he didn't miss any spots.

I did not see the offending spider, but the size estimates I've been given range anywhere from a quarter to a toonie. L slept in Maddie's bed...even after the duct tape. Guess we'll be rearranging furniture just a little over two weeks from packing it all up.
