Ok, it's not italian. But it's where I've arrived. The movers have been scheduled to arrive at our house on December 20. I have no idea if they're still under contract to move the contents of our house to an undisclosed location in Montreal. Realistically, it's not my problem.
I would hate for several underpaid employees of a moving company to arrive at our house on December 20 only to be told that we are not moving, and apologizing that nobody had notified their company. However, we did not contract them in the first place. I hope to hell they get paid for their trouble.
Many people have been working on behalf of this relocation. Up until this point, we've been hopeful that Nick's company would come to a resolution and notify us of their decision. Did I mention that the movers are to arrive in two weeks? Did I also mention that we haven't received a phone call, email, subliminal message, NOTHING from those responsible for deciding our fate? How rude.
Thanks to a cryptic comment on my part, and hesitation on the part of my boss, I still have a job. However, when I step into my office, I don't know whether I should continue with the projects that I had tentatively put on hold, or continue with the turnover process that I began weeks ago. I am lucky to have understanding co-workers who not only listen to my frustrated mumblings but are also tolerant of any last minute departure I may have to make.
The move to Montreal has indeed lost its lustre. 4 months is too long to live in limbo. Can't believe that it's possible to turn something as exciting as moving to a big new city into something that I may require medication to cope with.
I'm done. Move or not. Just give me something to tell my kids.
